Nestled in the heart of the Kennet Valley
Barton Court Estate serves up the crystal-clear water, fresh from the chalk of the North Wessex Downs that is home to some of the finest trout and grayling to be found in the Country.
The tranquillity of Barton Court will quickly let you forget that you are less than an hour outside London and is home to a plethora of wildlife both in and around the river. A quiet and understated gem of a river, The Kennet is undiscovered by many and adored by those that know it. It is a natural and unspoilt river serving up world-class fishing that is accessible and welcoming to all.
The Fishing
Barton Court is the home of Designer and Restaurateur Sir Terence and Lady Conran. Sir Terence acquired the fishery in 2016 and has started its restoration to become one of the great fisheries in the country.
Offering just over two and a half miles of fishing on the main river and carriers, Barton Court Estate has fishing to suit all abilities from the fast, technical river sections to more sedate, slacker waters.
A mixture of double and single bank fishing, Barton Court has plenty of space to wander and explore the pools, riffles and straights, whilst its relatively compact area means that you are never too long a walk from the fish hut and a spot of lunch or refreshment.
We offer season rod fishing for either weekdays or weekends and day ticket or group bookings throughout the week.

Sir Terence Conran
Barton Court has been a very happy home for my family and I for over forty years. It is a particularly tranquil spot where I feel most relaxed and contented so I am delighted to be able to welcome people to our small stretch of the River Kennet and share our idyllic spot.
The fishing in through our water meadows, is among the best in the Country Berkshire and we are working hard to make it one of the finest trout fisheries. We have employed a knowledgeable and passionate full time River Keeper who has set about rejuvenating some three miles of river banks and clearing the gravel beds of pools and streams. We have a wonderful variety of water including brown trout, rainbow trout, the unique Kennet Greenback, small shoals of grayling, perch and pike.
We have an abundance of wildlife to enjoy and if you're lucky you may see the blue flash of a darting kingfisher. Over time we will be enhancing the planting wildflowers in the water meadow to encourage benefit butterflies, moths and dragonflies and encourage an even greater abundance of wildlife.
